Macromedia Flash™: Art, Design + Function

I've written a short review about Mighty Assembly's book, which I also posted at thelinkz.com »

Macromedia Flash: Art, Design + Function is the approach of Mighty Assembly to produce a book about bridging art, true design and comprehensive function using Macromedia Flash as the tool of choice. The book represents a reconstruction of the entire Mighty Assembly site from the first conceptual thoughts to fine tuning the finished project, thus mightyassembly.com. The book is on best practices of the Mighty Assembly team using Macromedia Flash to accomplish its goals and is not a guide on how to do things step by step.

Technology is changing like wildfire, but the stages of developing creative concepts appear to stay longer. If you are not familiar with creative concepting, then you would do well to read up on the first couple of chapters. They walk you through the details of developing ideas and transforming thoughts into motion, design and function. Devoted to animation, video and sound, the book also provides some basic ideas of Actionscript conversion conforming the Flash 5 standards to dramatically boost performance and reduce source code by thousands of lines.

As a Flash resource provider since 1996, thelinkz.com shared thousands of creative solutions, concepts and ideas for the creative community. We are trying to provide value and meet the needs of our site visitors and audience. One thing we could not exactly provide was a way to accomplish an entire process of a Flash presence from start to finish. Untill now. The effort of the Mighty Assembly team brought us a book which represents a definitive inspirational stimulus of creativity and function. Considering this approach as a real benefit to the creative Flash community.

The book contains pictures, art, tips and code, which make reading this book a pleasure for both the eyes and brains. I have to admit I am predisposed to books that focus on reconstructions of entire projects and best practices. I would recommend the book to any and all of my visitors and members who develop web applications using Macromedia Flash.
